Alchemical Lightwork: The Gathering Light Course

Welcome to Gathering Light, a unique online course hosted by Dr. Arthur Versluis, with contributions from clinical psychologist Robert Faas. This course is, as far as we know, completely unprecedented. In it, we’re going to offer you a very rare set of resources to explore alchemical practice for yourself. This course is organized for co-exploration. In it, we’re going to be developing our practice of light with contemplative images and texts from the Western alchemical tradition.

In Gathering Light, we’re going to provide the foundational practices of working with alchemical light and illumination, and give an overview of the journey through the major stages, which are associated with the colors black, white, yellow, and red. We will begin with the nature of our era and with the black. The first phase is recognizing what is called in the tradition the burdens we carry, the darkness that is to be dispelled by the light.

This is the first of several alchemical courses. The second course will be The Alchemical Couple, which also is directly linked to the Alchemical Lightwork book, and in it, we will explore male-female alchemical practice and the journey of the couple toward shared illumination, drawing on the alchemical images of the Rosarium Philosophorum, a series of images showing the stages of alchemical transformation and union.
